This refreshing Mango Lassi recipe is a simple way to create a traditional Indian drink made from fresh mango.
Using Spices In Smoothies
We really don’t take advantage of spices in smoothies enough.
Granted, most of the time the fruit is so flavorful and refreshing, there may be no need for extra spices. But sometimes just a pinch can really take a simple dish to a new level.
It’s interesting to me how different cultures, many times, have their own version of similar dishes.
Like a lassi.
Mango Lassi: An Indian Smoothie
A lassi is a traditional Indian yogurt-based smoothie. The one thing that is done differently, a lassi’s key ingredients are spices along with the yogurt.
They can be sweet or savory, and sweet versions, like this Mango Lassi, typically contain fruit.
Like most smoothies, it is simple to make, but the subtle flavors of cardamom and ginger add a nice depth of flavor to the bright and refreshing mango.
