Meet Our Cultural Experts

At Curious Cuisinière, we’re passionate about bringing you authentic recipes from around the globe in a way that makes them accessible to home cooks at any level.

To do this, we’ve teamed up with a number of fantastic writers and recipe developers from around the world. Our contributors bring you their expertise in specific cuisines, be it from their family heritage or from their travels.


Caroline Williams

Caroline

Caroline is originally from Scotland, where she grew up hiking and skiing. Over the years she has lived in various places around the globe and developed a love for travel.

She has visited countries as diverse as Laos, Mongolia, Lesotho and Ecuador. (She will soon visit her 50th country!) Experiencing local food is always a part of her trips. In particular, she developed a deep appreciation for the cuisines of Spain and Germany during the time she lived in those countries.

She still fits in some travel with her family, but often settles for traveling through food instead. Sharing recipes on her blog, Caroline’s Cooking, there’s plenty of international inspiration using seasonal ingredients, as well as creative recipes for all to enjoy.

Lizet Bowen

Lizet

Lizet is Bolivian and lives in Paraguay, South America.

Through friends and travel, she has developed her love of food. From Africa to Asia, Europe to the Americas, there is always something new to try when you come to dinner.

Oz

Oz

Oz is originally from central Israel, and is currently based in Amsterdam. Alongside being a jazz musician, he is a dedicated foodie and a professional chef. 

He has traveled the world since 2021, exploring some of his favourite cuisines such as Thai, Greek, Moroccan and much more! His favourite way to travel is going to food markets and venues, interacting with the local people and hearing their stories through food. 

He is inspired by the unbreakable bond between a culture and culinary traditions. By by travelling and eating, he enjoys witnessing how food can influence and be influenced by history and cultural exchange.


Zari

Zari

Zahra is a Persian travel/ food writer. Though she’d like to travel around the world to try each country’s amazing food, she has a soft spot for Iran. Her goal is to show real Iran to people around the world through the lens of food.

Marita Sinden of mydinner.co.uk

Marita

Marita was born in Germany, to a German father and a Filipino mother.

She moved to the UK when she was 16 to study. There she lived for 20 years before settling back in Germany.

She loves any kind of food and has a keen interest in the food’s background and history, having studied Cultural Studies at university. She also spent some of her university degree in Spain, experiencing the food there.

Her blog mydinner.co.uk focuses on German recipes and food culture.


Kiran

Kiran

Kiran is originally from Pakistan and is a food blogger and recipe developer. One of the things that she loves doing is learning about different cuisines and learning how food has shaped culture and history around the world.

She loves to experiment in the kitchen, be it recreating traditional family recipes or putting her own twist on international recipes. She is an avid baker and believes that there is nothing as comforting as a piece of cake and chai. You can find Kiran on her blog at Mirchi Tales as well as on Instagram.


Freda

Freda

Freda has been a food writer for 10 years, with a significant focus on the under-explored area of African cuisines.

She has written for Amex Essentials, The Spruce.com, Radiant Health Magazine and others. She had been noted for her inspired creativity in African Cuisine on CNN and has been featured in The African Economist, Guardian UK and on the BBC.

She is now established as an African Cuisine Expert and resides in Lagos, Nigeria with her husband and 4 children.

In 2018 she co-authored “The Science of Spice”, covering the challenging task of exploring the spices of the African continent.

Ana-Cerovski

Ana

Ana has a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and she has received a Rector’s award for achievements during her studies.

She is an experienced writer for restaurants and wineries, and she loves to cook, research, and experiment with different cuisines and ingredients.

Besides writing, Ana loves to photograph and travel, especially to Korčula, Croatia which is her second home and the best inspiration for new recipes and flavors.


Maria Ushakova

Maria

Maria enjoys cooking Russian dishes that remind her of home, as well as Armenian dishes from her husband’s heritage. Healthy food trends and international cuisine are among her other culinary interests.

She is a food blogger and recipe developer who loves creating easy and healthy recipes for her website MariaUshakova.com. She is an aspiring food photographer and dog lover. She lives in Toronto, Canada, with her husband Sedrak and their dog Toby.

Michelle Wong

Michelle

Michelle’s expertise is in Southeast Asian cuisine, her family’s heritage. She enjoys delving into the unique recipes of her motherland and sometimes providing a twist on them.

She also enjoys learning and discovering different foods from around the world and recreating them in her own kitchen. She is an avid matcha lover and believes that the best food is made from scratch.
